The event takes place for the first time in Portugal and brings renowned names to our country such as creators Alphadi Seidnaly, Javier Valência and Audrey Jackson, among many others.
Innovation, diversity and creativity set the tone for 3 days dedicated to fashion at Casa da Baía, in the heart of the city of Setúbal.
It will be the first time that Setúbal will host an event that also aims to promote the talent of emerging and established designers and creators from around the world and raise awareness of sustainable and eco-responsible behaviour in the production and consumption of fashion.
Just over 4 days before the start of the first edition of the Setúbal Fashion Show 2024, the final preparations for what will be the first major national and international fashion showcase in our country are being finalized. From the 6th of September, the Setúbal Fashion Show will take place at Casa da Baía. An event dedicated 100 per cent to fashion and promoting this region as a natural, cultural and artistic heritage.
The theme of this first edition, which brings together international names in world fashion, will be “Fashion between the Sea and the Mountains”. According to Aires Muscate, founder of the Setúbal Fashion Show and also an internationally proven model, “this is an event that aims to bring some big names internationally to Portugal. In addition to promoting fashion as art and cosmopolitan, we want to provide an event that involves young Portuguese creators and that promotes the city of Setúbal as a natural, cultural and artistic heritage”.
The Setúbal Fashion Show 2024 also marks the meeting of creators, designers and models from more than 50 nationalities. In addition to the presentations of the Autumn/Winter collections, those who visit the event will be able to find a series of cultural activities such as music performed by singer Mafalda Louro, a sale to the public of pieces that will be in the scheduled fashion shows, among many other surprises. Aires Muscate highlights that “we want to put Portugal, and the city of Setúbal, on the map of major global fashion events. We will have renowned names in this area such as the Ecuadorian designer Javier Valencia, or the North American designer Audrey Jackson as well as Neelo Aisha who comes directly from Hong Kong for the Setúbal Fashion Show”.
Aires Muscate also says that the Setúbal Fashion Show is also an “inclusive event that will give a stage to young Portuguese creators. In addition to being able to present your collections, we will also have a Makeup casting; Casting for models; and Hairstylist workshop sessions.”
Alphadi Seidnaly: The “desert wizard” is in Portugal for the first time
It will certainly be the most notable name in this first edition of the Setúbal Fashion Show. Alphadi Seidnaly is one of the guests already confirmed in this first edition. Nigerian designer Alphadi was, for example, responsible for singer Madonna’s costume for her 60th birthday. He is also a UNESCO ambassador for peace. In the world of international fashion, he is known as “The magician of the desert”. This designer, who has stores in Paris and New York, and a line of perfumes, is also responsible for organizing the International Fashion Festival in Africa (FIMA), the largest African fashion event that brings together designers from across the continent.
