These Museums were distinguished in 2018 with the Museum of the Year Award by the Portuguese Association of Museology and with the grand award “Heritage in Motion 2018”, which awards the best multimedia cultural projects in Europe.

This year they are back to fight for the award “The Best in Heritage” to be held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from 25 to 27 September.

National projects are among the more than 40 award-winners invited to share experiences in innovation and effectiveness in preserving and communicating heritage.

These include the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago: US SPACE (School Partnership for Art and Civic Engagement), the EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Espoo, Finland, or the State Museum of History of GULAG in Moscow, Russia.

Jointly promoted by the European Academy of Museums, Europa Nostra and Europeana, the Heritage in Motion Award aims to distinguish the best multimedia projects that creatively and innovatively showcase Europe’s cultural heritage.

“The Best in Heritage” takes place under the umbrella of bodies such as the ICOM – International Council of Museums and the federation for cultural heritage Europa Nostra.
