Pedro Gonçalves’s goal brings Sporting back to winning ways, forced Porto to win so as not to let the Lions escape again.
After the draws with Moreirense and Famalicão, the pressure on Sporting was great, but the goal Pedro Gonçalves would end up giving the victory to the Lisbon team.
Pedro Gonçalves also recovered the leadership of the best scorers with another goal than Haris Seferovic, from Benfica.
Without Rúben Amorim, punished, Farense surprised by putting a lot of pressure and intensity in the game, creating many difficulties for the greens and whites who were accumulating errors after errors that just by luck and Antonio Adán did not score in the Algarve team’s goal.
Farense would even end up asking for a penalty which, however, referee Hugo Miguel and VAR did not signal. It would end up being Sporting in the 35th minute to score in a shot by Pedro Gonçalves.
In the second half, Sporting entered a little better and created more opportunities but Farense would have the best opportunities that Antonio Adán masterfully opposed.
Miguel Bandarra jumped off the bench and ended up scoring but was invalidated by Mansilla’s irregular position at the start of the play.
Sporting now has 69 points, nine more than FC Porto, who will still play at Nacional, Farense, is 17th and penultimate classified, with 22 points.
