The countdown continues and there is one month left for this year’s edition of Super Bock in Stock.

Lisbon’s coolest autumn festival is back and is capable of warming the music lover’s heart who chooses to visit Avenida da Liberdade and downtown Lisbon on the 25th and 26th of November. One of the features of the poster is to give space to special moments of those who are already references within a more alternative scenario, while names that guarantee the future with the most daring proposals are made known. This is how the return of Pluto comes about, within the scope of the Estúdio Zeco Curatorship, which will also introduce us to Ana Mariano, Vila Martel and Grand Pulsar. Kady, Andrea Soares and GIRA Coletivo are also confirmed.

Estúdio Zeco is a space for creative sharing that aims to be the best solution in the creation of audiovisual content, songwriting, record editing and event production. This project aims to support and promote the career of new artists using a structure that is composed of composers, technicians, producers, arrangers, lyricists, photographers and directors. In this creative hub, everything is possible: from starting the composition of a song to recording, editing or booking concerts. The main objective is to discover and record today the music that will be heard tomorrow. And it is in this spirit that the Curadoria Estúdio Zeco suggests four proposals, and bets, for the Super Bock in Stock poster: Ana Mariano, Vila Martel, Grand Pulsar and Pluto.

PLUTO

Os Pluto são uma das bandas que mais saudades deixou nos melómanos portugueses. Formados em 2002 no Porto, lançaram o seu primeiro disco, “Bom dia”, no ano de 2004, e nos dois anos seguintes rodaram os palcos portugueses, recebendo o carinho de centenas de fãs um pouco por todo o país. Em 2006 resolveram parar e, por força das circunstâncias, aquele que seria apenas um pequeno período de pausa duraria até 2022. Embora de forma mais espaçada, nunca deixaram de fazer música e nunca perderam a intenção de voltar enquanto banda, o que acabou mesmo por acontecer a pretexto do concerto no festival “O Salgado faz anos… Fest!”. Desde então pegaram-lhe o gosto, decidiram voltar à estrada e até já começaram a gravar músicas novas, assim como algumas músicas que, apesar de já estarem feitas, nunca tinham sido gravadas até este momento. Tal como o seu primeiro single refere, este é “só mais um começo”… E o público do Super Bock em Stock vai poder assistir a este regresso da banda de Manel Cruz no próximo dia 25 de novembro.

ANA MARIANO

Ana Mariano is one of the most promising names in new Portuguese music. Passionate about music since the age of 11, she learned to play the guitar with the main aim of putting to music what she had written for herself until then. Singer and songwriter, she debuted in 2019, the year her first single, “Ordinary View”, was included in the album Novos Talentos FNAC. Her debut EP, “Everything I Touch”, featured five songs, three of which were assiduous on several national radio stations. After this promising start, Ana Mariano is now preparing to release her first album in Portuguese. “Girassóis à Beira-Mar” and “Poeta” are the first two singles from this new collection of songs by Ana Mariano. The singer passes by Super Bock in Stock on November 26th.

GRAND PULSAR

Grand Pulsar are Alex Mey and Diogo Brandão, a duo of musicians complicit in this task of making pop songs. Together on and off stage they are responsible for the entire universe of the band: the two write, compose, produce and record their own music. In this way, Grand Pulsar enter the spectrum of pop music in Portugal with songs that carry the color and boldness of international influences. The band’s focus is on making catchy, two-voice melodies with honest and genuine lyrics, which are also hard to forget. This is an artistic vision that allows them to play with Portuguese music, exercising a playful side, while paying tribute to the same Portuguese music to which they are heirs, not hiding their music-loving side. The Grand Pulsar perform on November 26, in this year’s edition of Super Bock in Stock.

VILA MARTEL

Formed in 2019, Vila Martel is a Lisbon band composed of Afonso Alves, Francisco Botelho, Francisco Inácio, Rodrigo Marques Mendes and Tiago Cardoso. They refuse to choose labels for their music, but faced with the challenge of naming what they do, they usually respond with “rock with petazetas”. The guitars as the essence of their sound and the ear-splitting choruses quickly made them stand out. The first album, “Nunca Mais É Sábado”, released in February 2020, did not go unnoticed within the national indie rock scene. “Amanhã Não Vou Ficar”, the first advance of the group’s second work and a premonition of what will come, presents bolder compositions and a more careful sound, without abdicating the weight of its guitars and the always so recognizable lyrics. Vila Martel is one of the choices of the Curadoria Estúdio Zeco and will perform on November 25, at Super Bock em Stock.

KADY

Kady was born and raised on the island of Santiago, in the city of Praia, surrounded by music and great women who defined and shaped her personality. Daughter of Terezinha Araújo, founder and lead singer of the group Simentera, she grew up alongside leading figures in traditional Cape Verdean music. She started making music during her childhood and adolescence, winning music contests for young singers. As an adult, she bets on musical training and includes Brazil and the United States of America in her journey, in search of knowledge. In 2015, she released her first solo album, “Kaminho”, by BRODA MUSIC and made Lisbon the base city of her artistic career. In 2020, she was invited to participate in the Festival da Canção edition to interpret the theme “Diz Só” by singer-songwriter Dino d’Santiago and composer Kalaf Epalanga. Her new musical project, “Lumenara”, comes out in November of this year 2022. From this new EP, the theme “Tempu” and the theme “Djuntu” are already available, with the special participation of Dino d’Santiago. Kady performs some of these new songs on Super Bock in Stock on November 25th.

ANDREA SOARES

Andrea Soares has been a singer for 21 years. She began her musical “path” through pop alleys, continued through the electronic waves and, more recently, established herself in fado, in a very special reunion. Daughter of an amateur fado singer, Andrea lived fado in an almost “compulsory” way while she was still a child. She would eventually follow other paths, as has been said. Over more than two decades of artistic career, Andrea has lived many lives in music, but today, with an open soul, the singer mixes her traditions in a house full of new energies: her FADO. More mature than ever, this Andrea is now stepping onto the stage of Super Bock in Stock, on November 25th, in an unmissable concert.

GIRA COLETIVO

GIRA Coletivo de Mulheres no Samba promises one of the most energetic moments of this year’s edition of Super Bock em Stock, aboard the Super Bock Bus, during the two days of the festival. This project was born in 2021, in Lisbon, as part of the Encontro das Mulheres na Roda de Samba, an international event that celebrates the role of women in samba. GIRA asserts itself as a formation dedicated to giving voice to the multiple talents that gather in Portugal – percussionists, guitarists and singers -, opening space for women who love and honor samba. The repertoire is filled with the great themes and classics of the genre, celebrating all its musical, poetic and political richness. If during so many decades of history the samba circles have left so many women relegated to secondary roles, this project now wants to say loudly: GIRA a roda! And the wheel turns in a double dose, on the two days of Super Bock in Stock, on the 25th and 26th of September.
