The Carnival returns to the Coliseum

The Coliseu Porto Ageas program reserved a surprise for 2020: a big Carnival party, on the night of February 24th. Recovering the tradition of the “Carnival Only at the Coliseum” events, which marked the 40s, 50s and 60s in the city of Porto, the Colosseum is thus reunited with its history and gives it the 21st-century contemporaneity.

The party will be brightened up by the presence of Drag Queens from all over the country: Elektra Ashford, Agatha Top, Claudia Fux, Wanda Morelly, and also from Natasha Semmynova, who surprised on the television program “The Voice”.

DJs Sininho & Mendes, from the mythical Club 447, will bring the dancers of the Club to the helm of the records. There will be a contest for the best masks.

All bars will be open and there will be a cocktail show.

The “Carnaval only at the Coliseum” parties are one of the strongest brands in the history of this theatre. In the 50s and 60s, the events lasted three days, with orchestras, Carnival balls, circus shows and children’s matinee. The iconic “Carnaval only at the Coliseum” posters, authentic pieces of art by illustrator António Cruz Caldas, depict the atmosphere of colour and joy that was experienced at the Coliseum.

On the night before Carnival, the doors to the Main Room open again and all roads lead to the Coliseum. The revelry returns home.

Tickets can be purchased at the Coliseu Porto Ageas ticket office, at Ticketline stations, or through promoters. Entry costs € 15 in pre-order. From 20 February, the ticket will cost 20 €.
