GNR will be at the Joaquim Benite Municipal Theater, for two concerts, on October 17th and 18th, Saturday at 9pm and Sunday at 4pm.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Novo Rock Group was officially established in 1980. In 1981, the first single appeared – a word from the analogue era, which designated a 45-turn vinyl record, usually with a theme on each side, these being chosen for their commercial potential, and that were used to promote another larger disc, this one with 33 rotations and with more tracks, called LP, that is, Long Play. The disc included the legendary Portugal theme in the EEC, and would sell more than 15,000 copies.
Still in 1981, the group released Sê um GNR, which would sell even more copies than the first single. In that year, vocalist Rui Reininho joined the band, who would become not only the face but also the soul and living memory of a musical project that broke with everything that had existed in Portugal in terms of music. pop rock, building a work of great uniqueness and elegance, in sound as in lyrics.
Among the eternal records (to mention those that reached the condition of classics), there are Independança (1982), Os Homens Não Se Quer Bonito (1985), Psicopátria (1986), Video Maria (1988, maxi single) controversial, considered heretical), Valsa dos Detectives (1989), or even Rock in Rio Douro (1992).
