Tututa and Chico Serra honored this Saturday

Through Cape Verde Piano “Morna Rhapsody”, two musicians, Carlos Matos and Humberto Ramos will pay homage to the two great figures of the piano, Tututa and Chico Serra.

The tribute, which takes place this Saturday, August 1, will be broadcast at 5 pm on Carlos Matos’ YouTube channel.

According to Carlos Matos, the initiative came about because of the COVID-19 pandemic and will also serve to continue the “2 Pianos” project in concert.

Carlos Matos and Humberto Ramos, are two of the most respected pianists and music researchers in Cape Verde. They navigate the melodies, mix with the lyrics and, above all, put what they have been collecting on the instrument, at the disposal of others.

In this context, and still imbued with the reality of morna as Intangible Heritage of Humanity, this meeting of pianists arises, since the honorees were among the first figures to define the piano as solo instruments in a musical universe dominated by strings.
