UHF celebrates today the 40th anniversary of the single ‘Cavalos de Corrida’

A day that went down in the history of Portuguese music as the beginning of the so-called Portuguese rock. All because of a single called Race Horses! From a band from Almada called simply, UHF!

In the words of António Manuel Ribeiro “at the time I just thought that the song had pedaled and the words had the strength of reality. Period.”

But even before it was released as a single, Cavalos de Corrida was the song that UHF played most live “started to be a serious case, even before the album was edited. We had to play it 2/3/4 times – a malta nova wanted to shake their helmet, literally. And so did we. It became the music that moves generations. Something will have at its core.”

“We asked the question about the topicality of the Race Horses theme to António Manuel Ribeiro. The author tells us” Topical. It is an urban song that speaks of life in big cities, where we are driven by schedules and hampered by traffic.”

The Racehorse theme is today 40 years since its first single edition. The lyrics are by António Manuel Ribeiro and the music by Renato Gomes.
