Wendy Nazaré releases double album Jacarandá

When Wendy Nazaré finished writing her book Os Flamejantes Azuis, which tells the life of her grandparents and how her father discovered his Portuguese roots, she realized that she had many songs linked to these stories and secrets. Some old songs and many new ones in English and French.

With the translation of her book into the language of Camões, the singer decided to adapt the songs into Portuguese and thus the new double album Jacarandá was born, the name of a song but also the literal translation of the title of her book in French, Les flamboyants Bleus.

The two projects are complementary and, although the songs were not written with the book in mind, they allow the reader to have a new look at the stories. This way, the stories behind some songs already known to the public can be discovered, such as Lisboa, which is part of the singer’s previous album.

Jacarandá has 23 songs in Portuguese, English and also in French. The pop-folk style of Wendy Nazaré can be recognized in them, with arrangements sprinkled with instruments from all over the world.

Segue o Mar” was the new song that announced these two joint projects launched in Portugal, France and Belgium.

Since November 17th, we can discover the 23 songs from the new double album Jacarandá on all platforms and it will also be the release date in France of the book already published in Portugal and Belgium.

If this is a new song for the Portuguese, it is not for Wendy Nazaré’s French-speaking fans. But how could she choose another single to launch her new double album Jacarandá in Portugal, considering that it is so linked to her book Os Flamejantes Azuis, where we can learn about the stories that her Portuguese grandfather recorded for her before he passed away?

It was a long road for the singer to be able to write this book. The first song appeared on his return from Lisbon to his native Belgium after his grandfather’s funeral – it was “Où Es-Tu”. A song that was the beginning of her first album, Pas de Pareil (2009), and her career.

It is with great emotion that Wendy Nazaré sings the Portuguese version, “Onde Estás”, whose music video was recorded in her grandfather’s home region, Serra da Estrela. For her, it was very natural to choose this song as a single in Portugal to officially launch the album Jacarandá, and it was also a way of paying homage to her Portuguese grandfather.
