13º Sumol Summer Fest

On the 1st of July, the Sumol Summer Fest will be the stage for a unique and exclusive moment. The Guerrilla Girls show, in which Blaya, Carla Prata, Cíntia, Eva Rap Diva, Muleca XIII, Dama Bete and DJ Allexia will perform, will take over the festival to celebrate the best of Portuguese female rap.

To mark this moment, a cypher was recorded with all the artists, accompanied by a video clip, today revealed on YouTube. This cypher will be presented firsthand, live and exclusively, on the day of the event.

The mission of these hip-hop guerrillas is to pay homage to the female New York collective of the same name, which has been combating racism and gender inequality in the artistic milieu since the 1980s. Now, the flag rises on this side of the Atlantic to remember the prominent role of women in Hip Hop Tuga since the first rhymes began to be released, in the early 90s.

Despite Hip Hop constantly raising its voice against inequality, female rappers are often cut off when the conversation turns to equal opportunities in this medium. To combat this stigma, the best of female Portuguese rap will be celebrated in this show that will bring together seven artists.

Blaya, Carla Prata, Cíntia, Eva Rap Diva, Muleca XIII, Dama Bete and DJ Allexia will take the stage of Sumol Summer Fest to challenge the status quo and record, forever, their names in Hip Hop culture in Portugal.
