The Municipality of São Vicente announced this Thursday, the 14th, 15th and 16th of August as the date for the 36th edition of the International Music Festival of Baía das Gatas.
[dropcap type=”background”]B[/dropcap]aía das Gatas, considered a “magical place by nature”, hosts an annual music festival in August that moves São Vicente on the artistic, festive, human and economic levels.
The disclosure of the date, seven months from the event, aims, according to information made available on the official Facebook page of the municipality, for emigrants and the general public to be able to organize, in advance, their holidays and commitments at the time of the festival.
The festival had its first edition on August 18, 1984, it is held annually on the beach of Baía das Gatas, and since that date, only in 1995 it has not been held, due to a cholera epidemic that devastated Cape Verde.
Annually, the Municipality of São Vicente, which organizes the event, reserves a sum in the municipal budget to cover the expenses with logistics, travel and fees for artists from Cape Verde and abroad, being sure that the bulk of the amount to support the event, according to the autarchy, comes from corporate sponsorships.
