Its direction is in charge of Vasco Pearce de Azevedo (principal conductor) and António Lourenço (assistant conductor).

One of the main objectives of the Sinfonietta de Lisboa, as a member of Associação Musical Ricercare, is to disseminate music from the 20th century, in particular by contemporary Portuguese composers. It is in this context that the various premieres that have been made of works commissioned from composers such as Eurico Carrapatoso, Bernardo Sassetti, Sérgio Azevedo, Carlos Fernandes, Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, Carlos Caires, Pedro Faria Gomes, and Ivan Moody are inserted. Also noteworthy are some of the first auditions in Portugal carried out by the Sinfonietta de Lisboa of works by 20th-century composers, such as Alexandre Delgado, Eugénio Rodrigues, and Luís Tinoco.
