Exhibition “Drawing Natália”
Chapter Room of the Convent of Graça
The 2nd edition of the event takes place until September 16th, in the Parish of São Vicente, in Lisbon. It presents a diverse and entirely free program of music, literature, stand-up comedy, Fado, cinema, and exhibitions.
This edition of COLINA DAS ARTES is dedicated to Natália Correia, on the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of her birth. One of the most important and influential intellectuals of the Portuguese 20th century, whose “view of the world” remains undeniably current. Co-founder of Botequim da Liberdade in 1971 [currently Botequim da Graça], with Isabel Meireles, Júlia Marenha, and Helena Roseta, Natália Correia fought for the values of freedom and feminist struggle, making Botequim a space for political gatherings and literary gatherings and café-concert.
Under the aegis of Natália and based on the centrality that the idea of “Mátria” played in the life and work of the Azorean writer, this year’s program will be mainly focused on women, with a premise of cultural diversity – a genetic hallmark of the city of Lisbon and the Parish of São Vicente.
On September 13th, the date on which he would have completed 100 years of life, the Exhibition “Drawing Natália – Commemorative Exhibition of the Centenary of the Birth of Natália Correia” will be opened to the public, in the Chapter Room of Convento da Graça. The exhibition brings together the work of 12 renowned illustrators who were challenged to discover and draw their visions of Natália Correia. This exhibition opened on Natália Correia’s centenary and will be on display until November 30th, from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
