Sessions accessible every week, until the end of the year, at EGEAC

The cultural spaces managed and programmed by EGEAC will hold 51 sessions for audiences with specific needs by the end of this year. These sessions take place in 10 spaces, from museums to theatres, including monuments, in the city of Lisbon.

Among guided visits, performing arts sessions, conversations, workshops and relaxed sessions, there are 26 sessions and visits for S/deaf audiences (people who speak Portuguese Sign Language and people with hearing impairment), 15 for blind audiences or people with low vision, 4 for neurodivergent audiences and 6 for audiences with dementia. More than fifty activities scheduled in museums (Museu de Lisboa, Casa Fernando Pessoa, Museu Bordalo Pinheiro and Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar), theatres (Teatro São Luiz, Teatro do Bairro Alto and LU.CA – Teatro Luís de Camões), Cinema ( Cinema São Jorge) and monuments (Castelo de São Jorge and Padrão dos Descobrimentos), between October and December.

Continuing with the investment policy in the democratization of culture, making it increasingly closer to people, EGEAC has invested in accessibility across the board. In addition to carrying out improvement works in the various cultural facilities, the proposals and activities with interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language and audio description, relaxed sessions and tactile resources, have been increasing and extending to more and more EGEAC spaces, as is the case of the Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar which now has a regular offer, with two guided visits accessible on the 29th of October and 26th of November, and also the Fado Museum which now includes Portuguese Sign Language in the cycle’s concerts There is Há Fado no Cais, the first being, with Marco Rodrigues, on October 26th at the Centro Cultural de Belém.

The valorization of Equality, Diversity and Accessibility is one of the strategic axes of EGEAC, which this year has been implementing additional measures to promote equitable, physical, social and intellectual access to all people, through a diverse activity, supported by a policy of cultural participation that involves adapting spaces, shows, cinema, conferences, visits and exhibitions to all audiences.

This year LU.CA was recognized with the Acesso Cultura Award, a distinction given to Teatro São Luiz and Casa Fernando Pessoa in 2021.
