Strongboi debuts in Portugal
Strongboi is a project born in Berlin from the collaboration between Ziv Yamin and Alice Phoebe Lou. This project celebrates the long-standing friendship between Ziv and Alice, bandmates in the successful career that Alice Phoebe Lou has built in the indie universe in recent years, and their love for vintage keyboards and sounds and a lo-fi aesthetic.
Strongboi performs live in Porto on February 16th on their 1st tour where they present their debut album.

The alternative world of Alice Phoebe Lou and Ziv Yamin
Strongboi started in 2019 with a lo-fi vision and as an alternative project to the activity of the two musicians, where they had complete freedom to celebrate their passion for Casio keyboards, to which they added toys and toy instruments. With a new project, still without labels, the duo also allowed themselves to explore and mix various styles as well as give free rein to other facets of their creativity.
The path to the debut album
After a debut single of the same name in March 2020 and plenty of time to continue exploring the possibilities of Strongboi thanks to the pandemic, the duo released 2 more singles in 2020.
After an excellent reception for their first songs, the duo evolves into a full band which aims to emulate these lo-fi roots that were at the genesis of the project, completing them with the possibilities that a band offers.
This was followed by 3 more singles released in 2022 – “Cold”, “Unconditional” and “Fool Around” – as a prelude to a debut album that would come in 2023. The eponymous album was very well received by the public and critics. With a lightness and innocence typical of those who don’t need to prove their worth, Strongboi delivers a set of songs that cross styles, but come together in retro aesthetics and the unmistakable voice of Alice Phoebe Lou.
This retro and DIY aesthetic is also extended to Strongboi’s music videos, which seem to have been recorded on an old VHS home video camera, and to all of the band’s promotional photos, which seem to have come from an album lost for years in an attic full of dust and cobwebs.
The sound of Strongboi
The songs range between soul jazz ballads, like the magnificent “Cold”, slow disco like “Fool Around”, or a kind of retro trip-hop / easy listening like “Meilia (remix)” which seems to come from a soundtrack of an Italian film from the 70s. Strongboi is a space where Alice Phoebe Lou and Ziv Yamin assume their various sonic personas and explore musical paths that excite them but remain in the drawer in their other lives.
On February 16th we can have fun with them at the CCOP Auditorium, in a premiere in Portugal promoted by Crowdmusic.
