Tommy Richman releases new single “Thought You Were The One”

Debut album COYOTE will be released on September 27th

Following announcing his debut album, COYOTE, scheduled for release on September 27th, Tommy Richman reveals his latest single, “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE” along with an official video.

Having released the single on his TikTok last week, “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE” is the first official release from COYOTE, giving fans a taste of the project that Tommy announced as album of the year during his appearance on the television show “ Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, where the theme “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” debuted on television. The new single comes as a soulful alternative R&B ballad, moving away from the funk sound of her previous viral hits, rooted in dance music, “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” and “DEVIL IS A LIE”. Tommy’s melodic vocal layers float over the song’s vintage drum machine groove, hazy chord progression, and howling synth highlight the musician’s limitless artistic range as he reflects on past heartbreak.

Directed by Lonewolf, the new video shows Tommy travelling through the desert with a companion, remembering the best moments they shared. Panoramic shots of the mountains are alternated with images of Tommy serenading the girl of his dreams under the night sky until the heavy reality of the situation hits him and he wakes up from his dream among a pack of wolves. An eerie image of a lone wolf staring at the highway ends the video, symbolizing Tommy’s journey thus far. “It’s a great example of slowing things down a little… It’s not always about epic songs. I’m a versatile artist,” says Tommy.

COYOTE is Tommy Richman’s debut album after signing with Brent Faiyaz’s record label, ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records. The LP contains songs he began writing several years ago when Tommy was broke and lonely but confident in his craft. In early 2024, he finalized these sketches and ideas in the desert. The rugged terrain and grand skies inspired Tommy, who sees COYOTE as a thematic continuation of his 2022 EP, ALLIGATOR. “I’ve been building my discography for years. I’m not a one-hit wonder,” says Tommy – having already proven that. COYOTE is about art and reach. After years of hard work, the new album will cap off a dominant 2024 and arrive with her first headlining tour.
