On April 7, World Health Day, the Association of Young Diabetics of Portugal (AJDP) organizes a walk with the goal of promoting physical activity and showing that diabetes is not a limiting lifestyle.

In the walk, the young people and families can expect a course with a low degree of difficulty, and also have a guide to accompany the whole group on the pedestrian route. For all nature lovers, this is a great opportunity to get to know the forest life of Monsanto Park, through the various points of observation through which they will pass.
“Taking into account the goal we have with the implementation of these walks, World Health Day seemed to us the most appropriate date to carry out the tour of the month of April. It is important to show that diabetes does not limit us and that physical exercise contributes a lot to our physical and mental well-being, ” explains Paula Klose, president of AJDP.
The walks organized by the AJDP are part of the “Walking for Diabetes” initiative, which bring all people to walk once a month. Open to all people, these tours aim to promote health, prevent type 2 diabetes by encouraging a healthier life and stimulate the interpersonal relationships of each one by sharing experiences among young people living with diabetes.
The enrollment in these walks has the value of two euros (for insurance) and the registration must be made by email (betamata@gmail.com) or by telephone to (966 228 860) until April 5 at 5 pm, indicating the name complete, date of birth and contact. All participants should bring comfortable clothing and a snack for mid-morning. It is important for everyone living with diabetes to have a hypoglycemic kit (juice, sugar or biscuits) and diabetes control supplies.
