Ana Catarina is in the semi-finals of the 400 meters
Ana Catarina Monteiro became the first Portuguese woman to guarantee her presence in the semi-finals of a swimming competition at the Olympic Games.
The 27-year-old swimmer from Vila do Conde had the 14th best time (2:11:45 minutes) in the 400-meter butterfly qualifiers and will fight for an unprecedented presence in the final.
Chinese Yufei Zhang (2:07:50) had the best time in all three qualifiers.
