The book “As Pedras na Ciência e na Cultura”, by A. M. Galopim de Carvalho, was presented at the Dom Manuel Palace, with the presence of the author, by Carlos Pinto de Sá and Eduardo Luciano. It fell to Rui Dias, professor at the University of Évora, to present the book.
“Stone and rock are two ways of saying the same thing. But, as a rule, they are used in different speeches. We pick up a rock from the ground, but when we study, we almost always talk about rocks”.
«As Pedras na Ciência e na Cultura» is not a textbook. Never losing sight of the scientific rigor of the topics discussed, he opts for the freedom of exhibition, preferred by the author. Supported by years of experience, he often uses the colloquial format that has always brought him closer to readers and does not avoid, in one or another exhibition, a certain poetic intentionality.
