The Argentine company Timbre 4 will be in Almada, at TMJB, from October 10-12 with Suavecita, written and directed by Martín Bontempo, on Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.
Martín Bontempo is an actor, director, and playwright born in Buenos Aires. The idea for this story came to him, he says, during a commuter train ride in Buenos Aires. Writing began in August 2021, and the play premiered in June 2023 at the Nün Theatre in Buenos Aires, with Camila Peralta in the lead role, in a performance dubbed a “mind-blowing tour de force.” Suavecita tells the story of a woman, a single mother, who wanders the corridors of a public hospital in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area, soothing, relieving, and, indeed, succeeding in bringing joy to the patients admitted there with her simple offerings and words. This approach catches the attention of Dr Rodríguez, who will use it as part of an alternative therapy for terminally ill patients or those undergoing palliative care. Here we are faced with a classic confrontation (and compromise) between magical gift, mysterious talent (personified by the feminine), and pure, hard-core scientific medicine (personified by the masculine), during which Suavecita will also embark on a journey of self-discovery.
Camila Peralta is a prominent actress in the current Argentine theatre and film scene. She has collaborated with Martín Bontempo since 2017. She was the author and performer of the web series Protagonistas (2018), which won international awards in Bilbao, Marseille, Seoul, and São Paulo.
