Captain Fausto, Will Butler + Sister Squares and Marc Rebillet confirmed at Super Bock Super Rock

Super Bock Super Rock returns to Meco on the 18th, 19th and 20th of July for its 28th edition. In a truly passionate scenario, the big focus continues to be the celebration of the most authentic music of the moment.

The story of Tomás Wallenstein, Salvador Seabra, Manuel Palha and Domingos Coimbra has its first chapter in 2011, with “Gazela”, the debut album. There we find the urgency of youth songs, of pop anthems that are sung and always have a little taste to them. In 2014 it was “Pesar o Sol”‘s turn to reach the public.

And they defended it live with memorable shows at large and small festivals, clubs and theatres across the country. These performances forced the band to grow, while the number of people who followed them closely also grew. In 2016, it was the songs from “Capitão Fausto Têm os Dias Contados” that led them to exceed all expectations. Just over 30 minutes of music and words, in a pop mode full of detail and more baroque ornament… And more than ever they sounded like the voice of an entire generation.

And the generation responded, elevating the eight songs that were offered to them as immediate classics. In December 2017, Capitão Fausto flew to São Paulo and it was there that they began recording their fourth original album. “An Invenção do Dia Claro” ended up being released in March 2019. “Semper Bem”, “Faço as Vontades”, “Amor, a Nossa Vida” or “Boa Memória” show a band that is reborn with each album, that renews itself with the care of those who want to build a solid career.

After the release of “Capitão Fausto & Orquestra das Beiras no Campo Pequeno” and “Sol Posto”, here comes the band’s fifth album of originals, “Subida Infinita”, the result of years full of intense experiences: of ends and beginnings, of death and life, of search and encounter. Ten years after the release of “Pesar o Sol”, the band celebrates this milestone in an exclusive concert prepared for this year’s Super Bock Super Rock edition.

With a brilliant career, the band returns to a place where they were once very happy to celebrate a series of songs that marked the lives of so many of the band’s fans. Themes like “Célebre Batalha de Formariz”, “Maneiras Más” or “Litoral” will once again sound loud at Meco, where the band will play the album in its entirety, at the next edition of Super Bock Super Rock. The Portuguese band performs on July 18th, at the Pull&Bear Stage.

Will Butler’s work as a member of Arcade Fire makes him responsible for some of the best music produced in the last twenty years. After the band’s departure, announced in 2022, Will Butler, Grammy winner and Oscar nominee has been embracing new musical challenges, looking for answers to new questions, without ever losing the artistic demand for which he has become known over the years. After having already released three albums under his name, “Policy” (2015), “Friday Night” (2016) and “Generations” (2020), Will now presents to the world what is his first post-Arcade Fire adventure.

These new songs were born from the meeting with Sister Squares, a band formed by Miles Francis, Julie Shore, Jenny Shore (Win’s wife) and Sara Dobbs, and the result precisely of working with Win on his solo projects. Sister Squares’ DNA is linked to dance and this influences the music that comes from this marriage with Will. The first singles, like the infectious “Long Grass”, show a sound enamoured with the best pop of the 80s, designed to make people dance and heir to names like David Bowie or Talking Heads.

This order to dance was also received by the Portuguese public, at the end of 2023, in one of the most praised concerts of the last edition of the Super Bock Festival in Stock. And the good news is that Will Butler and Sister Squares return to Portugal in 2024, at the next Super Bock Super Rock where they will perform on July 18th, on the Pull&Bear Stage.

Marc Rebillet is a force in improvised electronic music, known for his unique ability to create hypnotic beats in real-time. Originally from New Orleans, he immersed himself in the world of music from an early age, absorbing the rich soundscape of the city that surrounded him.

With a passion for improvisation and an inexhaustible creative mind, Rebillet has developed his musical style that defies any traditional labels. Mixing irreverent humour, musical talent and a healthy dose of improvisation, Rebillet wins over crowds around the world with truly electrifying performances. After sharing his unique performances on social media, he quickly gained an avid fan base for his unique blend of music, comedy, and improvisation.

Rebillet gained fame on social media for a series of improvised sessions featuring vocal loops, keyboards and beats. With rare energy and obvious talent, Marc Rebillet continues to challenge the boundaries of electronic music and inspire a legion of fans around the world. Moments like “Come on and Get the Fuck In!”, “Loop Daddy III”, “Chicken Tenders”, “This is a Song About a Girl”, and “Quarantine Beat” went viral and show all their irreverence and humour. These attributes also promise to win over the Portuguese public, in the next edition of Super Bock Super Rock, on July 18th, on the Pull&Bear Stage.
