COOLJAZZ performed today the presentation of the Festival in the new amphitheater in Parque Marechal Carmona, with the presence of several artists and with new confirmation, Bruno Pernadas on Ben Harper’s day.
Bruno Pernadas is confirmed for the first time at COOLJAZZ, he takes the festival stage on July 26th, the same day as Ben Harper. The following day (July 27th), Nena invites Joana Almeirante to a special participation in her concert. On the 29th of July, João Só invites Mónica Teotónio to an unprecedented moment on the COOLJAZZ stage. Cátia Ribeiro Quarteto, Nihuju Trio, Mr. Monaco, and Manuel Oliveira Trio are the first names of the Cascais Jazz Sessions and Filipa Galrão, Sara Ribeiro and Mariana Norton make up the lineup of the Cascais Lazy Sundays, on the late afternoons of Sundays in July. Also in this edition, the Municipality of Cascais, in partnership with COOLJAZZ, presents an exclusive discount for users of the Viver Cascais Card. The poster for the 18th edition of COOLJAZZ is now almost complete with 3 concerts per night for 7 days in July. COOLJAZZ, is cool by nature.
Bruno Pernadas is a Portuguese musician, composer, and producer, he has released four albums in his own name exploring sounds such as jazz, space-age pop, folk, world music, and electronica. The artist has created numerous original soundtracks for Cinema, Television, Performing Arts, Theater, and Contemporary Dance, over the years, even creating and composing the Original Soundtrack of the first Portuguese Netflix Original Series “Glória”. Also on July 26, Ben Harper presents his new album “Wide Open Light” (June, 2023).
On the 27th of July, Nena makes her debut on the COOLJAZZ stage, where she presents her new album “ao fundo da rua” and invites Joana Almeirante to make a special appearance in her concert.
On the last day of the festival, July 29th, João Só, who performs on the same night as Norah Jones, receives special guest Mónica Teotónio for an unprecedented moment on the COOLJAZZ stage.
Cátia Ribeiro Quarteto, Nihuju Trio, Mr. Monaco, and Manuel Oliveira Trio are the first confirmations on stage at the Cascais Jazz Sessions. Four projects that highlight national talent in the field of jazz will be joined by the 3 winners of the Cooljazz by Smooth Fm Contest, a competition for new talents, the result of the partnership between COOLJAZZ and Smooth FM.
In 2023, COOLJAZZ debuts the new Amphitheater stage of the Cascais Jazz Sessions By Smooth Fm, in order to provide the public with a better musical experience in Parque Marechal Carmona. The creation of this amphitheater was an initiative of the Municipality of Cascais, in order to make the Marechal Carmona Park even more sustainable.
On Sundays at 7 pm, Cascais Lazy Sundays take place in the Garden of the Museum of Casa de Histórias da Paula Rego. For the 2023 edition, the DJ sets by Filipa Galrão (July 9), Sara Ribeiro (July 16), and Mariana Norton (July 23) make up the poster for the Sunday afternoons of the Cascais Lazy Sundays. Entry is free.
The 18th edition of COOLJAZZ, in partnership with Sociedade Ponto Verde, come together for the first time to guarantee a sustainability plan for the festival. Since 2004, COOLJAZZ has given priority to the concern with the environmental impact, not only in the areas where it is held (such as the Parque Marechal Carmona and the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo, in Cascais), but throughout the circuit that encompasses the festival, by raising awareness for the adoption of good practices. Emphasis on the placement of more eco-points in the enclosure to maximize the deposition and forwarding of packaging of all kinds, after consumption for recycling, as well as offsetting the emissions of all the carbon that the festival emits, making it a Carbon event Free.
In this edition of COOLJAZZ, Cascais City Council, in partnership with the festival, offers an exclusive discount for users of the Viver Cascais Card. Residents, workers, or students with an active profile can purchase tickets with a 20% discount. This benefit is valid until June 25, tickets can be purchased at the Cascais Visitor Center. COOLJAZZ has 3 concerts per night.
It starts at 8 pm with the Cascais Jazz Sessions, then follows the First Concert on the main stage and ends with the Great Concert on the main stage, at times yet to be defined. Closer to the date, check the festival schedule at cooljazz.pt.
