The 30th Ponte da Barca Book Fair opens tomorrow
- From May 22nd to 26th, with free entry, Praça da República will be the centre of literary and artistic activities

From the 22nd to the 26th of May, at Praça da República, the Municipality of Ponte da Barca organizes the 30th Book Fair, an annual event with literary and artistic activities. There are 5 days full of discoveries, learning and celebrations of culture and literature.
With story hours with live illustration, prize giving, poetry soirées and even a ‘Yogar with stories’ session, where the magic of literature meets the tranquillity of Yoga, the program will be diverse and promises to attract people of all ages.
Tomorrow, May 22nd, the fair starts at 10 am, with a Story Time with Live Illustration of the book “D. Reinaldo Pimpão Arrived and the confusion is over!”, by Carlos N. Granja with illustrator Sebastião Peixoto, followed by the awarding of the Reading Competition Prizes, which recognizes the effort and talent of the students of the Ponte da Barca School Group. In the afternoon, at 2:30 pm, there will be another Story Time with Live Illustration about the book “YES!”, by Flávia Barbosa, with illustrator Zita Pinto, ending the day with the presentation of the book “25 Mulheres”, at 9 pm, by Raquel Costa, a journey into Portuguese society at the beginning of the 70s and reflects the contradictions of the female condition, many of which are still current.
On Thursday, the 23rd, the activities are for the young people of Ponte da Barca, with an Open Day of Curricular Enrichment Activities, starting at 4 pm, where 1st cycle classes present their creations and prepare fun workshops for visitors of the Fair. At 9 pm, celebrating artistic expression, students, parents and teachers bring words to life, in a Poetry Soiree.
On the 24th, two hours of the story with live illustration stand out: at 10 am, “O canto da Serra-mãe”, by writer Estefânia Surreira, with illustrator Dina Sachse; and, at 3 pm, “7 Vidas”, with author Pedro Seromenho and illustrator Carlo Giovani. At night, at 9 pm, a unique performance takes place: “Metafisamente d’outro Mundo”, by Poeta da Cidade. In the latter, music combines with words, in a transcendent atmospheric creation, with Wake Up Sleep (Cláudio Martins), with the materialization of the literary form that arises from the book of poetry of the same name by Poeta da Cidade, questioning us about what is a metaphysical love and how we feel it.
On Saturday, the 25th, in the morning, the presentation of the book “Pequenos Gestos, Grandes Diferenças” by Mónica Mota Lopes takes place, which highlights the importance of simple gestures and respect for differences. At 9:30 pm there will be a reading, by Catarina Barbosa, aimed at children and adults, with a dynamic and engaging activity.
The fair ends on Sunday, May 26th, with its last activity at 11 am, with a “Yogar with stories” session, where instructor Manuela Fernandes promises a unique experience, which combines the magic of literature with the serenity of Yoga.
