The LEGO Group has unveiled a true celebration of football with the launch of the new LEGO Ideas Foosball Table set. From the thrill of the goals to the cheers that echo throughout the stadium, football lovers can now build and play their favourite game with this new fan-designed LEGO set.
The first to test out the new, fully functional Foosball Table were legendary football icon and World Cup winner Thierry Henry and current Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford, who face off against your Minifigure team in a new video. Each player can first build their team of five-sided LEGO Minifigures, plus a crowd of teammates and fans who watch from the sides of over 60 different elements before they compete in a match.
The LEGO Ideas Foosball Table set honours football players and fans from around the world and features a diverse range of Minifigures. In total, 22 different buildable Minifigures to play or watch with a diverse range of hair, facial expressions and skin tones to choose from. The set’s portable size means it’s perfect for carrying around, playing with friends and playing ‘out and home’. It also makes an ideal piece to display at home.
Thierry Henry says: “Throughout my career, I’ve played football everywhere – from my garden to stadiums around the world and now on the LEGO Ideas Foosball Table set! Also speaking about his involvement in the campaign, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford said: “I love building with LEGO bricks – but now building and playing football against Thierry Henry with LEGO is amazing! Football brings fans together and it’s great to see that The LEGO Foosball Table Ideas set does the same.”
The set was designed by Donát Fehérvári, a 16-year-old Hungarian fan, as part of the, We Love Sports competition on LEGO Ideas, and then turned into a real set by LEGO Designer Antica Bracanov, who said: “What makes LEGO Ideas Mesa So amazing is it that it captures the spirit of the sport. Donat’s design champions the shared roller coaster of emotions fans experience when watching football games. At the LEGO Group, we are incredibly proud to have brought this set to life, allowing fans exchange their boots for pieces, and be inspired to participate in the game, for the love of the game.”
Bringing together culture, creativity and play, the new LEGO Ideas Foosball Table is launched as part of the LEGO For The Joy of Play campaign, at numbers 35 and 37 of Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, in Paris, on the 29th and 30th of October.
The two-day event will feature the opportunity to compete in the ultimate LEGO Table Football competition, plus keynote speeches by inspiring speakers and the opportunity to create an amazing mural and free building areas with LEGO bricks.
