Expansion of the cycling road in Alvalade
Lisbon City Hall and EMEL started the expansion works of the cycling network in the streets Marquesa de Alorna, Luís Augusto Palmeirim, and José Duro, in Alvalade. The intervention has an estimated duration of 90 days and aims to implement traffic calming measures that allow shared use between bicycles and cars.
Parking will be reordered, in order to ensure greater safety and visibility for bicycle users, for loading and unloading operations, as well as for taking and dropping passengers.
The typology adopted for these interventions is that of a trivialized route, where the circulation of cycles should occur in conjunction with motorized road traffic. The road will be unidirectional, following the direction of the current traffic, and signaled with the respective vertical and / or horizontal signs.
As a complementary measure to the marking 30 + Bici, a type guide will be placed on the pavement for a better definition of the route.
The radius of curvature at the intersections will be reduced, with an increase in the areas available to the pedestrian, in order to force motorized traffic to reduce the speed at the entrances and exits of the street.
Part of the car parking will also be reordered, and the parking in spine must be done in reverse, in order to ensure greater visibility and safety for cyclists who circulate through the trivialized route, as well as reducing risks/conflicts in cargo situations/discharges, which are carried out directly for the ride, and taken and dropped by passengers, mainly children and people with limited mobility.
