“Fália de Amália no Casino Estoril” celebrates the 100th anniversary of Amália Rodrigues
With the support of the Amália Rodrigues Foundation, Casino Estoril hosts a commemorative cycle in honor of the fado singer’s 100th birthday, acclaimed as “the voice of Portugal”.
The program “Fados de Amália no Casino Estoril” brings together three female voices that interpret the fados and traditional songs popularized by Amália Rodrigues throughout her career.
Sandra Correia takes the stage at Lounge D, on the 24th, followed by Célia Leiria, on the 25th, and Joana Amendoeira, on the 29th of July. The interpreters will be accompanied by Pedro Amendoeira on the Portuguese guitar, and by Ivan Cardoso and Pedro Soares on the fado viola. With free entry, not to be missed, in Lounge D, at 6 pm.
Thus, Casino Estoril is associated with the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of the greatest figure in national music of the 20th century, which sold out numerous times at the Salão Preto e Prata. It should be recalled that Amália Rodrigues signed memorable performances, among which, for example, several New Year’s Eve nights stand out and starred in unique moments sharing the stage with Júlio Iglesias or Tony Bennett.
Day 24 – Sandra Correia
Vocal extension and interpretive expression, elegance, class, reflect a superior, mature, serene and tranquil artist.
Day 25 – Célia Leiria
Born in Santarém, more specifically in Alcanhões, Célia Leiria was born into a family with a fadista tradition in Ribatejo and with a strong aptitude for the Arts.
Day 29 – Joana Amendoeira
Joana Amendoeira is one of the most relevant voices of the so-called “new generation of Fado”. Faithful to its more traditional bases, Fado in the voice of Joana Amendoeira gains a new
life and attitude.
