Halloween at WOW: Magic potion for a spooky weekend

At WOW, Halloween celebrations begin on Thursday, the 31st, and continue until Sunday, the 3rd. Suspense and horror will hang over the cultural block of Vila Nova de Gaia throughout the weekend.

This special programming includes themed dinners, an escape room, thematic visits to the museums, workshops that live up to the theme, as well as a haunted party that lasts all night long.

WOW has prepared 4 days of horror and fear to mark the extended Halloween weekend. It will be possible to take a spooky visit to the Museum of the Porto Region or participate in an escape room at The Art of Drinking Museum. In the “Dalí Universe” exhibition, there is an interactive thematic visit to the surrealist painter’s dream world, while the Chocolate Museum offers a workshop for the little ones. For those who value a meal, there are two options: a family dinner at VP or a themed buffet at the WOW Gallery. The night ends with a Halloween party that lasts until 6 am.

Visit to the “Porto of Horrors”

Taking advantage of the scenic and narrative potential of the Museum of the Porto Region, there will be theatrical guided tours, with horror stories about the city of Porto, exploring the darker and more mysterious side of the Invicta, mixing urban legends, myths, and historical events.

It is possible to participate in the experience for €20 (or €18 for groups of over 5 people). The sessions last an hour and take place on October 31st, November 1st, and 2nd, at 7:00 PM, 9:30 PM, and 11:00 PM.

Escape room “Save the World”

For escape room fans, this is the best way to celebrate Halloween. The game, as expected, is against the clock. The special mission is to find the missing chalice of Julius Caesar, inside The Art of Drinking Museum, to free the world from a terrible haunting.

Tickets cost €20 per person, or €18 for groups of 5 or more. The experience takes place on October 31st, in three sessions starting at 7:00 PM, 9:30 PM, and 11:00 PM.

Visit “Dalí, the Prophet of Dreams”

This is a completely surreal visit to the exhibition “Dalí Universe,” on display at the Atkinson Museum. Participants walk through a world of dreams and mysteries, guided by the very Tarot Arcanas of Salvador Dalí. A way to learn about the characters, dreams, and universe of the master of surrealism.

Tickets cost €20 per person, and the visits take place on October 31st and November 1st. The experience lasts one hour, with bookings at 7:00 PM, 9:30 PM, and 11:00 PM.

Workshop “Trick or Treat”

In this special edition of Chocolatinhos, three chocolate-based recipes will be prepared: spooky lollipops, witch’s cauldron shards, and monster brain popcorn.

Participation costs €20 per person (or €22 for workshop and visit to the Chocolate Museum). The workshops will take place from October 31st to November 3rd, with sessions in Portuguese at 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM and in English at 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM.

Also, for those visiting the Chocolate Museum during these days, “Choco-Scary Marshmallows” will be offered. For those wanting to unleash their imagination and give space to their inner monster, this activity will allow the customization and tasting of marshmallow skewers covered with melted chocolate. The experience will be ongoing and is free for museum visitors.

Addams Family Dinner

At the VP restaurant, next to the central square of WOW and overlooking the Douro, there will be a menu designed for families. Each dish has spooky names that can make you lose your appetite!

Dinner will be served starting at 7:30 PM and costs €45 per person (food and drinks included) with a special price of €18 for children.

Ghost Dinner

At the WOW Gallery, there will be a boo-buffet dinner with a themed menu. Guests can enjoy a complete menu, from salads to appetizers, meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes, and a rich selection of desserts.

With several drinks available, participation costs €57 per person (food and drinks included).

Haunted Party

For those wanting to prolong spells into the night, WOW will host a party that lasts until 6 AM. DJs Michael Mayer, Vibe, Rui Vargas, Tiago Carvalho, and Miguel Nery will guide the musical cauldron and scare spirits until dawn. Those who book dinner at WOW will receive a discount promotional code for the party via email.
