The Portuguese João Almeida won the first stage of the Tour de Luxembourg.
The Portuguese runner of Deceuninck-QuickStep completed the 140-kilometer course starting and ending in Luxembourg City with a time of 3:16.09 hours, beating Dutch Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo) and Swiss Marc Hirschi (UAE) in the sprint Emirates), runners-up and third-placed respectively.
On Wednesday, João Almeida leaves with the status of leader to discuss the second stage, taken from 186.1 kilometers between Steinfort and Eschdorf.
