João Sousa rises to the 106th position in the ATP ranking
Portuguese tennis player João Sousa rose today in the ATP ranking and now occupies the 106th place in the world table, led by Serbian Novak Djokovic, who returns this week to the competition in the Monte 1.000 Masters.
Vimaranense, number one national, stayed for the inaugural round in the ATP 250 of Cagliari, after losing to the German Jan Lennard-Struff, in three ‘sets’, but recovered a position in the classification, remaining as the best Portuguese among the elite worldwide.
In an updated ranking that shows no changes in the top 10, Serbian Novak Djokovic remains the leader, and the Russian Daniil Medvedev and the Spanish Rafael Nadal in the second and third places, respectively, Lisbon’s Pedro Sousa also climbed one step and figure in 112. Th rank.
In the ‘top 10’ of the WTA hierarchy, although the podium continues to be dominated by Australian Ashleigh Barty, Japanese Naomi Osaka and Romanian Simona Halep, today there is only one change, the return of Czech Petra Kvitova to 10th position by exchange with the Dutch Kiki Bertens, who went down to 11th place.
