Major Lazer confirmed at MEO Sudoeste

The 24th MEO Sudoeste will be celebrated in 2021. There is another name that has already confirmed its presence to help the party, renewing the commitment to the public that awaited them this year in Zambujeira do Mar: Major Lazer will perform on August 5th on the MEO Stage.

Today Major Lazer are one of the giants of electronic music worldwide. It all started in 2008, when producers Diplo and Switch started working together. The two met for having worked on the first album by singer M.I.A. and then also with Santigold.

The complicity was evident and had to be placed at the service of music and others. The duo’s first album came out in 2009. “Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do” already had some of the most characteristic elements of the band, such as captivating electronics and reggae always on the prowl. The second album, “Free The Universe”, released in 2013, continued on this successful path and included the participation of some dance music stars such as Vybz Kartel, Busy Signal, Mr. Vegas, Nina Sky, Amanda Black, among others.

The single “Hold the Line” exploded around the world, making it big on any dance floor. In 2012 they joined Snoop Dogg and edited the theme “La La La” – the collaboration also extended to the production of the album “Reincarnated” by Snoop Lion, the persona of Snoop Dogg. At that time there was a change in the project: Switch left and Jillionaire and Walshy Fire entered (Jillionaire would come out this year 2019, giving way to Ape Drums).

In 2015 they released their third album: “Peace Is The Mission”. A few months later they would again make a big splash with the launch of yet another successful theme on a global scale: “Cold Water”, with the participation of Justin Bieber and MØ. And successes like this were appearing naturally, one after the other, as well as collaborations with stars like Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande.

Meanwhile, the wait for “Lazerism”, Major Lazer’s fourth album, continues. “Make It Hot” with Anitta and “Que Calor” with J Balvin and El Alfa are two of the themes already known and, also, two of the most anticipated themes by the Portuguese public in the concert scheduled for August 5, 2021, on the Stage MEO from MEO Sudoeste.
