Maria Emília, a fadista born in São Paulo, Brazil, performed at CCB in the context of the cycle “Há Fado No Cais”, coproduction EGEAC – Museu do Fado / CCB, and who was born with fado, accompanying her father, who is a guitar player from an early age.
The CCB’s small auditorium was full of human warmth, joy and good music, even though unfortunately it was not as full of audiences as the fado singer deserved. With a safe interpretation, crystal clear, luminous, refreshing but strong voice.
“Eu sou, somente essa solidão”, “Um dia cheguei-me a Ti”, fado celebrated by Amália, “Fado Alcântara”, were some of the fados that Maria Emilia performed at CCB. But we also made a short trip to the other side of the Atlantic, with “De volta pro aconchego” by Elba Ramalho & Dominguinhos.
This was followed by “Lisboa Bonita”, “Se Não Gostasse de Ti” and a theme interpreted by José Geadas, who accompanied the fado singer on the Portuguese guitar and almost finished an acoustic theme in which Maria Emília, performed “Fado Menor” and released all his voice in the CCB auditorium.
Maria Emília had the company on stage with Andre Silva on drums, Jose Geadas on Portuguese guitar, Bernardo Saldanha on fado guitar and Paulo Gil on bass guitar.
With two albums edited “C’Alma” and “Casa de Fado” works distributed Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain and Poland, they were the launching pad for concerts in Algeria, Spain, United Kingdom, France, Italy and Brazil.
