Peniche welcomes the world surfing elite in 2022

Peniche welcomes the world surfing elite, male and female, in a race scheduled between March 3rd and 13th, 2022, this Wednesday announced the World Surf League (WSL).

After a two-year break, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Peniche thus enters the calendar of the main world circuit again, being the third stage.

The circuit will kick off next year in Pipeline, Hawaii, from January 29th to February 10th, followed by Sunset, also in Hawaii, from February 11th to 23rd. The best surfers in the world will then compete in Portugal, going on to two races in Australia, in Bells Beach (10th to 20th April) and Margaret River (24th April to 4th May).

Between May 28th and June 6th they will be in Indonesia (G-Land), then traveling to Trestles (USA) from June 15th to 22nd. Next will be the competitions in Saquarema, Brazil (June 27 to July 4), Jeffreys Bay, South Africa (July 9-18), and Teahupo’o, Tahiti (August 11-21). ).

The day of the finals, which was introduced this year on the main circuit, is scheduled to take place between 7 and 18 September 2022, at a location yet to be determined.
