The Municipality of Sintra approved, in a meeting of the executive, the continuity of the project “Beach Accessible to All” in Praia das Maçãs and its extension to Praia Grande and Praia de S. Julião.
For the development of this project, protocols will be signed with the Fire Brigades of Almoçageme, Sintra and Colares.
The Mayor of Sintra, Basílio Horta, recalled the importance of this project that “not only facilitates accessibility but also promotes dignity and well-being. The creation of these accessible bathing areas provides inclusion and equity among all people who want to be on the beach”.
The Accessible to All Beach takes place from July 1 to August 31 and aims to create and improve the conditions of access to the beach to allow full access to water and sand, for any citizen with disabilities or disabled/reduced mobility.
Thus, the municipality will provide treadmills in the sand, shower and beach chairs, model tiralô, which allow movement in the sand and access to the sea/ bath, as well as the participation of three monitors support for each beach, provided by fire brigades.
This appropriate equipment, provided free of charge by the municipality, will allow citizens to benefit from the playful and therapeutic potential that the beach/ sea provides, making leisure and recreation accessible to all.
