Mário Costa Quartet presents “Chromosome”
Antena 2 Festival at the Belém Cultural Center
Drummer and composer Mário Costa presented his new album “Chromosome” at the CCB, included in the Antena 2 Festival, taking place at the Centro Cultural de Belém.
The Mário Costa Quartet made up of the Portuguese drummer, Cuong Vu, trumpeter, pianist Benoit Delbecq and bassist Bruno Chevillon, presented their most recent album at the Centro Cultural de Belém, in what was the debut on the stage of their work, today they will be at Maison 826, in Braga and tomorrow, February 26th, at Galerie Paul Fort in Paris.
In 2018, with the release of “Oxy Patina”, he began his career as a leader and composer, accompanied by two unavoidable figures in European jazz: Benoît Delbecq and Marc Ducret.
With numerous international reviews, it received the highest rating from Jazz.pt magazine, which awarded it the titles of “best album of the year” and “national jazz musician of the year”. “Chromosome” is the second chapter of this adventure, released in February by Cleanfeed, with the support of the GDA Foundation.
Mário is accompanied by the trumpeter, Cuong Vu is usually part of projects by Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny, David Bowie, or Laurie Anderson, bassist Bruno Chevillon appears alongside Louis Sclavis, Michel Portal or Daniel Humair, and pianist Benoît Delbecq, who has shone solo, and alongside Evan Parker, Mark Turner or Mary Halvorson.
