Sofia Bost short film at the New York Film Festival
The film was screened in May at the Cannes Film Festival on Critical Week.
The film has the argument of Tiago Bastos Capitão, who studied with Sofia, in college, in Lisbon.
“Party Day” will feature two screenings at the New York Film Festival: September 28 at the Francesca Beale Theater and September 29 at the Howard Gilman Theater.
The program of the 57th edition of the New York Film Festival also includes Pedro Costa’s “Vitalina Varela”, which premiered this month at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where it won the Golden Leopard and the protagonist, Vitalina Varela was awarded the prize for best female interpretation.
“Vitalina Varela” tells the story of a woman who lived most of her life waiting to go to her husband, Joaquim, emigrated to Portugal. Knowing that he died, Vitalina Varela arrived in Portugal three days after his funeral.
The 57th New York Film Festival runs from September 22 to October 13.
