Sporting wins in Barcelos against Gil Vicente
Sporting avenged the weekend’s defeat with two goals as it fell. Bruno Fernandes returned to wearing the hero cape, scoring and watching in the 2-0 against Gil Vicente. With this result, lions maintain aspirations to move on in the race.
After another uninspired weekend show, sealed with a defeat against Gil Vicente, the lion again faced his demons on Wednesday.
With Sporting and Gil needing to win to maintain their aspirations to continue in the final four, the greens and whites came in with little claw.
Promoted by Silas some changes in the team, the green and white again showed difficulties to reach the opposing goal. Without creativity, with little ability to deploy in field positions, Silas’s men tried the most direct play to the back of the opposing defense as a way of taking the game to the opposing goal.
However, after a first half without big goal-scoring opportunities, but also with little football to show the half-naked stands of the City of Barcelos stadium, the second half turned out to be qualitatively superior … but even so poor.
With more play against the opposing goal, the goals only came close to the final whistle. Bruno Fernandes, always the most disagreeable on the field, unlocked the scorer and, after expulsion from Acuña, also paved the way for the 2-0 final pointed by Vietto in the discounts.
