The 16th edition of OUT.FEST spreads through Barreiro

Barreiro received the 16th edition of OUT.FEST on October 3rd, 4th, and 5th, with a poster filled with national and international artists.

OUT.FEST – Barreiro International Exploratory Music Festival, is an annual festival whose programming may reflect what is currently happening in contemporary experimental music, in its many branches – improvised music for abstract electronics, jazz to noise and classical music.

Since its first edition in 2014, this festival has placed Barreiro on the map of alternative and expiatory music that surprises with the poster’s originality and excellence.

Over three dozen spaces and halls in the city have, over the past 15 years, welcomed hundreds of artists from all continents, representatives of different generations, aesthetics, and understandings of music and sound as forms of personal and social expression and transformation. deep.

Over the course of three days OUT.FEST hosted 26 shows featuring musicians from Portugal, Brazil, Spain, the United States, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Egypt, and Tanzania, across increasingly blurred borders between jazz, rock, improvisation, hip hop, noise, urban, electronic and contemporary music.

This edition began on October 3, at Santo André Church at 9:30 pm, with Gabriel Ferrandini and Barreiro’s Camerata Musical and Peter Evans.

The next day, the festival began at 6:45 pm at the Nossa Senhora do Rosário Church with Kali Malone.

At 9:30 pm, it was the ADAO Association‘s turn to stage OUT.FEST with Calhau!, Alpha Maid, Ilpo Väisänen, Deaf Kids, Yeah You and Dj Firmeza.

The third and last day of the festival was the day that led us to explore Barreiro further, as we searched the five venues throughout the city where the concerts would take place.

At the Small Watermill, the song started at 4 pm with Bezbog, Luar Domatrix and Violeta Azevedo.

At the Municipal Library we heard Angélica Salvi, Raw Forest, and Keith Fullerton Whitman + André Gonçalves, Clothilde and Simão Simões at 4 pm.

The Barreiro Municipal Theater stage opened at 4:30 pm with Brynje and Candura.

Largo Mercado 1 de Maio received Chão Maior and Davy Kehoe at 5:30 pm.

The show continued on SIRB “Os Penicheiros” at 9:30 pm with James Ferrano, Nadah El Shazly, Dälek and Still.

And to finish the festival big we listened to 2 am Mo Probs, Bonaventure and Viegas at Building A4.
