The first certified electric plane in the world, manufactured by the Slovenian company Pipistrel, carried out the first test flight in Friborg, Switzerland, the first country to acquire these devices and authorize them to operate in its airspace.
The device will be used mainly as a training aircraft for aspiring light pilots and its use marks an important step on the road to greener aviation.
The plane, called Velis Electro, received the certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency to be able to operate in mid-May and the Swiss company AlpinAirPlanes was the first to acquire the devices from the Slovenian manufacturer.
The device has a load capacity of 172 kilos during 50 minutes of flight and is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
