- The funds raised in Portugal will be handed over to Associação Pais em Rede, which aims to give a voice to families of people with disabilities through inclusive initiatives.
Registration is now open for the 14th edition of the Liberty Race, which is scheduled for December 3rd, the International Day for People with Disabilities. In addition to Spain, the event will take place for the first time in the three European countries where the company operates, Portugal, Ireland, and Northern Ireland.
With the theme “MovedByValues”, Liberty will celebrate the sports and solidarity event through which, for thirteen years, it has sought to promote inclusion and give visibility to issues related to disability. For the second year, the race will be virtual, allowing participants to take part from any point and at any time between the 3rd and 5th of December.
Participants must register on the page created for the event and download the application to participate, train, and compete. They must run the distance they choose, 1, 5, or 10 kilometers, between the 3rd and 5th of December.
During the registration process, participants can also make a solidarity donation that will be added to the donation of one euro per participant that Liberty will make to supported associations in different countries.
In Portugal, the amount raised will be donated to Associação Pais em Rede, an association whose mission is to empower families of people with disabilities through initiatives that eliminate barriers to full inclusion. In Spain, donations will go to the Promesas Paralympics de Athletics initiative in Spain and in Ireland to the Irish Wheelchair Association.
As Juan Miguel Estallo, CEO of Liberty in the European market explained, “this race is one of the most important milestones in solidarity and sport each year. In this virtual edition, we also have the opportunity to go much further, combining Liberty’s enthusiasm and commitment in Portugal, Ireland and Northern Ireland to reiterate our support for the integration of people with disabilities through sport”. “We hope that many people will join and participate during this weekend,” he added.
The arrival of this race in Portugal is another sign of Liberty’s commitment and investment in the country. The insurance company will encourage all intermediaries in the Portuguese market and more than two thousand employees across Europe to join the race from wherever they are, as the new teleworking model, launched in March, allows employees to work from anywhere in Portugal, Spain, Ireland, and Northern Ireland.
In this sense, the insurance company has demonstrated its strong commitment to people, especially its employees and mediators, and to integration and diversity in every way. As part of the commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion, the company announced the creation of the Board for DEI, an internal working group composed of members of the insurance company, including Juan Miguel Estallo, from which they work to ensure diversity and equal opportunities for all employees.
