34 applications for the Great March of Lisbon 2024
After the deadline for submitting applications, 34 proposals were submitted to EGEAC, 12 more than in the 2023 edition.
The compositions (lyrics and music) will now be evaluated by the jury, made up of conductor and artistic director Martim Sousa Tavares, singer and composer Sofia Hoffmann and composer, musician and music producer Renato Júnior.
At the beginning of next week, the winning composition will be announced and will be presented and performed by all participants in the Lisbon Popular Marches, as part of the Festivities.
The competition annually recognizes the literary and musical originality of the authors of the winning composition with a prize worth €5,500 (five thousand and five hundred euros).
This year, the Tagus, the river that bathes Lisbon and that over time has inspired poets, musicians and many other artists, is the theme of the Grand March.
