Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of its brand new portable entertainment projector or screen, The Freestyle. New equipment that not only offers the latest audiovisual technology but also all the flexibility to provide a new viewing and entertainment experience for consumers who want to take their favourite content with them wherever they go.
Aimed at Gen Z and Millennials, The Freestyle is a projector, smart speaker and ambient lighting device, all in one lightweight, portable device. When it comes to portability, The Freestyle weighs just 830 grams, making it easy to take anywhere. Unlike conventional projectors, the versatile The Freestyle rotates up to 180 degrees, allowing users to display a high-quality video on any surface – tables, floors, walls or even ceilings – without the need for a separate screen.
“The Freestyle is a unique projector geared towards maximum versatility and flexibility to meet the ever-changing lifestyles of consumers,” says Simon Sung, Executive Vice President and Head of the Sales & Marketing Team of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “Without the limitation of space and form, The Freestyle is a fun and versatile device that can be used however consumers prefer.”
The Freestyle includes levelling and auto-adjusting features using industry-leading audiovisual technology. These features allow the device to automatically adjust your screen to any surface, at any angle and even if the equipment is under an uneven surface, always offering a perfectly proportional and correct image for viewing. The adjustable screen is achieved by being able to reduce the size of the screen and move it in any of the four directions, and without moving the projector from its original location. Additionally, the autofocus feature allows The Freestyle to display a sharper image on any surface, at any angle, up to 100 inches. The Freestyle also comes with a dual passive sound system that delivers clearer, deeper bass without distortion. In addition, its 360-degree sound range allows users to enjoy a cinematic quality sound experience, no matter where they are.
To power it, The Freestyle is compatible with external batteries that support USB-PD and output of 50W/20V or higher, so users can take it with them anywhere, whether they’re on the go or camping. The Freestyle is also a pioneer in being the first portable screen and projector that works when plugged into a standard E26 light socket without the need for an additional cable, as well as being compatible with the traditional wall socket option.
When not used as a projector to stream content, The Freestyle also offers ambient lighting effects thanks to its ambient mode and translucent lens cap. The Freestyle is also an intelligent speaker that analyzes music to define visual effects that can be projected onto the wall, floor, and elsewhere.
The Freestyle allows a user interface with Smart TV features, also present on Samsung TVs, with built-in streaming services and pairing features compatible with both Android and iOS mobile devices. It is the industry’s first portable projector certified by OTT’s leading global partners, providing customers with the best content viewing experience. It is also the first projector to feature a voice remote control, allowing users to choose their favourite voice assistants when using the hands-free device.
The Freestyle was to be presented during CES 2022, from January 5th to 7th, and will later be available in pre-order online for the Portuguese market from the month of January.
