14th edition of Estarrejazz bets on national jazz

Six concerts and the bet on national jazz will mark the 14th edition of Estarrejajazz festival, which will take place between October 3rd and 12th at the Cine-Teatro de Estarreja.

“Let’s take the public on a trip to know the best of Portugal, with Tomás Marques Quinteto, Alma Nuestra with Orquesta Remolacha, Trio by João Paulo Esteves da Silva – Brightbird, Desidério Lázaro, They and Jazz , and the Estarreja Jazz Orchestra with Luís Portugal “, explains the organization.

It is with the “silver of the house” that the festival opens on the 3rd, with the young saxophonist Tomás Marques filling the night, accompanied by Augusto Baschera on guitar, Óscar Graça on keyboard, Rodrigo Correia on bass and Diogo Alexandre on drums.

Salvador Sobral, André Sousa Machado, Nelson Cascais and Victor Zamora, the Alma Nuestra, perform the next day, accompanied by the La Orquestra Remolacha which refers to the boleros and mambos of Beny Moné, Peréz Prado and Mário Bauzá.

During the concert, more than 20 musicians promise to explore Cuban classics with jazz arrangements, revisiting La Habana caliente from the 1940s.

On the last night of the festival, the 12th, the Estarreja Jazz Orchestra invites Luís Portugal, the singer of the band “mythical and icon of the 80s” “Jafumega”.

The festival continues 13 years of jazz promotion that has already brought to the stage of Estarreja names such as Salvador Sobral, Mário João, Bernardo Sassetti, Mário Laginha, Bernardo Moreira, Carlos Bica, Jeff Davis, Mário Delgado, Perico Sambeat, Carlos Barretto and Carles Benavent, and American singer Kurt Elling.
