Ana Lua Caiano won yesterday the prize for Best Solo Artist of 2024 in the first edition of the FuturAwards, new musical awards and other national arts promoted by Radio Futura.
Yesterday, on the last day of March, Ana Lua Caiano joined names like Maria Reis, Best Youth, Máquina, Bordeira, Cara de Espelho and Rui Reininho as the first great winners of the FuturAwards, a celebration of independent and alternative music in Portugal.
This award came following the release of Vou Ficar Neste Quadrado, the first LP by Ana Lua Caiano, a record considered by national and international critics as one of the best of the year 2024, appearing on lists such as El País (ES), The Wire Magazine (UK) or Triple R (AUS). In Portugal, it was considered the album of the year at the national tops of BLITZ and Antena 3, still on the lists of Radio Futura, but also of Ipsilon (Public), Rimas and Batidas, Observer, Expresso, GQ Portugal, Radio Radar, among others.
Vou Ficar Neste Quadrado, which features songs such as “Let the Dead Die” (the winner theme of Best Music in the Portuguese Golden Globes of 2024), and “O Bicho Anda Por Aí”, went on several stages over the last year. The tour the first long-duration had about 80 dates in Portugal and across borders, passing through major national festivals (Primavera Sound, Good Sons, Meo Kalorama) and international (Eurosonic, OOAM Festival, Babel Med, Les Sud À Arles, Roskilde Fest, Mar de Musicas, Reeperbahn, Bam Festival, Tromoso World Fest, Oslo World, among others).
2024 also marked the nomination of Ana Lua Caiano in the “Music Moves Europe” awards and the participation in the channel “COLORSXSTUDIO”, in a live session of “Let the Dead Die”.
On Thursday, April 3rd, the artist is nominated in the 7th edition of the Play Awards in the category Critique Award, a category that names the releases that stood out most for criticism and for Portuguese music journalism. Ana Lua Caiano thus joins Plutonium, Captain Fausto and Maria Reis in the same category that awarded Slow J in 2024.
The awards ceremony takes place on April 3 at the Colosseum of Recreios and has live transmission through RTP 1.
