Beethoven and his followers take symphonic music to Coliseu Porto Ageas

In the year of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, the Coliseu Porto Ageas presents, on July 19, at 11:00 am, the symphonic concert commented “Beethoven and his followers”.

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n an informal, cheerful and relaxed atmosphere, the invitation to the general public and families is to embark with the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra on an unforgettable journey through the world of Beethoven and other great composers who succeeded him: Brahms, Dvořák and Johann Strauss II. Maestro Osvaldo Ferreira will be the master of ceremonies and will comment on the concert between songs, telling the story of the works and their authors.

This Sunday morning, we will awaken the musical taste of the youngest with some of the most emblematic works of these extraordinary names that have marked the history of music. To start, the excerpt from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, one of the best-known works in the Western repertoire, considered a predecessor of romantic music and one of the great masterpieces of this which is one of the greatest figures of the composition.

In this commented concert, the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra will present, among others, guidelines such as Strauss II’s “Waltz of the Emperor”, the first of Brahms’ famous Hungarian dances, and Dvořák’s “New World Symphony”, a hymn to the discovery of new worlds and cultures.
