Montepio Mutual Association presents cinema cycle starting October 24

  • Film sessions take place every Thursday, from October 24 to November 28
  • Free access, upon registration
  • Iran, Morocco, and Egypt highlighted in the film selection

To reinforce the commitment to promoting culture and access to art, Montepio Mutual Association marks the return with the second edition of the project “Clapperboard – Cinema Cycle at atmosfera m”.

Between October 24 and November 28, the sessions of this cinema cycle will take place on Thursdays at 6:30 PM in the atmosfera m space in Lisbon, with free admission upon pre-registration.

The “Clapperboard – Cinema Cycle at atmosfera m” has been exploring different genres and narratives in the relaxed and welcoming environment of the atmosfera m space. The programming is ensured by the team from Montepio Mutual Association, particularly the team dedicated to project management in the cultural area, which has chosen for this cycle award-winning films from Iran, Morocco, and Egypt. The intention was, according to the program’s organizers, “to explore tensions and issues of identity. We sought to present a Cinema that portrays the reality of each country at certain moments in its history but is always current. It is also a Cinema that makes us reflect on our identity and reality, in contrast to the reality of each of those countries, through a critical and broad perspective, in a ‘world’ and a reality far from our reach.”

“They are moments of leisure, culture, and knowledge that Montepio Mutual Association provides in the space dedicated to culture, aimed at both members and non-members of the institution. The goal – always – is to reinforce the commitment made to promote culture and access to art, bringing them closer to our community of associates and society in general,” says Rita Pinho Branco, Director of Communication, Marketing, and Digital at Montepio Mutual Association.

The first session of the “Clapperboard – Cinema Cycle at atmosfera m” took place between May and June, in Lisbon and Porto, and was focused on Italian cinema.
