Korean culture is on display in Setúbal, on October 24, at an event to be held outside the Casa da Baía, with demonstrations of martial arts, dance, gastronomy and workshops.
Korean Culture Day, a joint initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the City Council of Setúbal and the Setúbal Academy, is promoted as part of the commemorations of 60 years of diplomatic relations with Portugal.
The event, taking place between 12:00 and 17:00, includes demonstrations of taekwondo, by the Portuguese Federation of Taekwondo, K-Pop singing, by Mirai Z, and K-Pop Cover Dance, by BBKilling, ReLight and Phoenix, along with a presentation on traditional Hanbok dresses.
The event dedicated to the culture of the Asian country also features gastronomic exhibitions with the participation of Korean supermarkets and restaurants, such as Kopo Mart, Woori, K-Bob and Korean Hotdog, as well as tastings of traditional Korean food and beverage products.
The program also reserves a set of activities, in the courtyard of Casa da Baía, to reveal cultural riches, such as Hanbok experiences, a trip through Korea with illuminated paintings by Daegu and Popgrip by Jeonnam, painting of traditional masks and calligraphy.
The event ends with an institutional moment with interventions by the ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Portugal, Song Oh, and the president of the City Council of Setúbal, André Martins.
