Estoril Sol launches special edition of the magazine “Egoísta – Tempo Suspenso”
Owned by Estoril Sol, the magazine “Egoísta” has just launched “Tempo Suspenso”, in an opportune invitation for the reflection of its readers. A reference in the literary field, the most awarded magazine at European level, is presented in a special edition, distinguishing itself, once again, for the excellence of its portfolios.
“We live in an original and unexpected year. Time was suspended for several reasons. We had to review our priorities, our affections, the way we did our days, what we imagined to be the future. “Egoísta” is a reflection of this time, it is a special edition composed of collaboration of unique and diversified quality, providing a kind of chronicle of the times, a record of this suspension that affected Humanity”, explains the publisher Patrícia Reis.
“Daniel Blaufuks interprets time with a poetic portfolio and within the register of his work. Teolinda Gersão brings us a tale about disorder, animals and plants, the path we have taken. Raquel Serejo Martins is our poet for this special edition. João Porfírio reminds us of the impact of death, the reinterpreted and limited rituals that Covid-19 forced to redesign. João de Melo writes about how the human being “escaped from our eyes”. We present a portfolio of painting by Paulo Damião with a humanistic inspiration. Bruno Vieira Amaral reflects, in a fictionalized narrative, on the way a man understands dead time, how he writes life. Catarina Branco exhibits her three-dimensional and mysterious pieces. Francisco Zenha Preto, in a poetic record, appropriates time and asks for a little more. Finally, we publish a short story by the most Portuguese of Italian writers, Antonio Tabucchi. “And suddenly, at the beginning of life” is the title of Teresa Freitas’s illustration portfolio. Salvador Sobral writes to us about suspension in music”, also mentions Patricia Reis.
Mário Assis Ferreira, Director of “Egoísta” writes in the editorial: We wander in a suspended time. Traitorous time, time has dried us up… As if, suddenly, existence hovers between two confronting mysteries. As if we were wearing uninhabited bodies: exhausted from absence, fearful of proximity.
And he continues: “But there is always a sky to glimpse… More distant, perhaps, like a neighbor to the window, suddenly more withdrawn. Heaven, however, can be light or twilight. And in this light / dark spectrum, there is the temptation to think. Solitary thoughts, hesitant in the duality between the clarity of hope and the darkness of discouragement. In a dichotomy that precedes reason and leads us to the inescapable question: who were we, who are we, what is left for us to be again? Out of this existential doubt, the anguish of the future is born. Does this future hold a new beginning for us? Or is it that, in its smallness, it limits us to the opportunity for a new beginning? Uncertainty that impels us to guess the future and dictates to us the subjection to a new beginning!”.
Launched in 2000, the “Egoísta” Magazine has already been awarded 93 national and international awards in the area of journalism, design, editing, creativity and advertising, which makes it the most awarded publication at European level.
