Feira da Serra returns to its origins in its 30th edition
The Feira da Serra de São Brás de Alportel marks its 30th anniversary with an @special online edition, but where handicrafts, gastronomy, and entertainment, essential ingredients will not be lacking.
The alternative format is motivated, as in the previous edition, by the conditions of the pandemic caused by COVID19. The Algarve Mountains, inspiring and the starting point of Feira da Serra, is a true monument of the natural essence, resilience, renewal and rebirth that mark this unique period of our lives.
For this very reason, the Organizing Committee of the Serra de São Brás de Alportel Fair created an alternative program, especially dynamic in the digital sphere, which seeks to keep alive the flame and essence of this event that so cherishes the spirit of São Brasenses.
The program starts this Thursday, July 29th, at 7 pm, the day on which the news that producers and artisans have prepared for this edition will be launched and which are available through the Feira da Serra online catalog, which allows the purchase and ordering products. A moment symbolically marked in the outer space of the São Brás Cineteatro, central space, on Avenida da Liberdade, with the inauguration of an artistic installation in homage to this ex-libris São Brasense event that annually opens the heart of the Algarve to the world!
The pandemic contingencies led to changes in the initial program of this edition, and the dance show “Dançando nos Passos de Bernardo”, scheduled for Friday, July 30, was postponed. A new date will be announced shortly for this show created by São Brasenses artists and integrated in the Bezaranha cultural program, which counts on the participation of 16 Algarve municipalities and financed by the CRESC Algarve 2020 Operational Plan.
São Brás de Alportel participates in this cultural network program with two shows created by local artists, so it was natural to decide to rebroadcast the show “Sons de São Brás” on the social networks of the Municipality and Feira da Serra on the 30th. from 9.30 pm.
Over the last 30 years, along with gastronomy and entertainment, handicraft has been one of the pillars of this São Brasense anchor event, both in its more traditional and innovative versions. The exhibition “Arte Entrançada”, with innovative works under contract by Maria João Gomes, will be on display at the Museu do Traje and its inauguration will take place on Saturday, July 31, at 18:00, with controlled entrances according to the rules measures for the prevention of infections by COVID19.
From 7:00 pm onwards, attention turns to the social networks of the Municipality, where the commemorative program will be broadcast live: “Feira da Serra: 30 years of innovating tradition”.
A television-style program, broadcast live from the Museu do Traje, the space that hosted the first editions of this event. A moment to honor the roots of Feira da Serra and to open doors to new projects that have been born, as a result of the resilience and entrepreneurship of local artisans and producers. The program broadcast live will have some guests, in a pleasant get-together and with moments of gastronomy, without missing musical moments.
