Discos Submarinos Festival

The first Discos Submarinos Festival takes place on September 21st, at Teatro Taborda, in Lisbon.
Benjamin, Beatriz Pessoa, Margarida Campelo, Tipo, Tape Junk & Pedro Branco, Velhote do Carmo and Rita Cortezão make up the festival’s line-up, which features performances by all the artists that make up the label’s catalogue.
The event will have two stages: in Jardim do Café da Garagem, with its unmistakable view over the city of Lisbon and in the charismatic Main Room of Teatro Taborda. The shows start at 5 pm and tickets are on sale now.
Two years since its founding, Discos Submarinos have released 5 albums and 1 EP. The label created by Benjamim, together with Força de Produção, is responsible for the release of Velhote do Carmo’s first EP, Páginas Amarelas (2022) – one of the great revelations of the indie rock scene in recent years – and the much anticipated first album of originals by Margarida Campelo, Supermarket Joy, in 2023, the year in which she also released Beatriz Pessoa’s third studio album, PRAZER PRAZER, which helped establish the Portuguese singer’s name as one of the most promising of her generation. This year it also became the home of Tape Junk & Pedro Branco (a project that brings together two of the most prolific Portuguese musicians today) with the album Bolero and de Tipo, who released his second feature, Vigia (recurring on several national radio stations) with the publisher’s seal. Also in 2024, Benjamim’s sixth new album was released, the epic As Berlengas – an unavoidable milestone in the musician’s career and recent Portuguese music.
A range of artists and works navigate different musical scenes and that gives Discos Submarinos a very unique place in the music that is made in Portugal.
The first edition of the Discos Submarinos Festival is also the first event that brings together all the label’s artists live and also the newcomer Rita Cortezão, a singer-songwriter who releases her first album of originals this year, with the label’s seal, which promises be one of the biggest revelations of the season. All of this at a party to celebrate these two years of activity and what is to come.
