INAC presents Paper Circus with “Maria’s Stories”
inspired by the book “The Bench” by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex

INAC – National Institute of Circus Arts presents the 2024 Christmas creation of the Paper Circus, which this year will tell “Maria’s Stories,” inspired by the book “The Bench” by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
It is a touching family story that makes us reflect on our traditions and generational knowledge and how we can contemplate the future through them. “Maria’s Stories” features the narration of João Manzarra and a cast of 5 performers, national and international, including the winner of “Got Talent Slovenia” and under the artistic direction of Juliana Moura. Various techniques from New Circus to Physical Theater will be represented.
The show will take place in the Paper Circus tent, located in Vila Nova de Famalicão, from November 30, 2024, to January 5, 2025.
Maria was the eldest daughter of a family of 3 siblings. Daily, along with her brothers, Maria prepared to one day be able to continue performing with the family circus “BRAVO.” Always the first to arrive at the tent for daily rehearsals, Maria brought with her her endless questions, which became a challenging mission for her father.
This year’s edition of the Paper Circus presents Blue Sessions: sessions adapted for more sensitive audiences. In these sessions, the sound will be lower, lights less intense on the eyes, and table lighting more present. It will occur once during the week and once on the weekend (Sunday session at 10:00 AM). There will also be the possibility of having a Portuguese sign language interpreter.
Paper Circus is a project dedicated to Contemporary Circus and New Circus. A tent exclusively intended for artistic development and creation with the aim of bringing the magic of the show to all audiences.
